Operations and Research Associate

Salary Range: $35,000 - $45,000
Position Summary: The VHEI Operations and Research Associate will be an integral member of the VHEI core team. The position will will have two main focuses: 1) Supporting and maintaining VHEI’s operations processes while improving and increasing efficiency of project delivery, internal communications, and project management, and 2) conducting open source desk research for the VHEI team on local, state, and national public health disparity trends.
What is Vermont Health Equity Initiative (VHEI)?
VHEI is a nonprofit organization dedicated to prioritizing and bringing to light racial health inequities across the State of Vermont and those embedded in our nation’s legacy of systemic racism.
We elevate stories of health disparities for people of color following social determinants of health and health outcomes by race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status and provide the educational resources to make progress toward ending racially unequal healthcare.
We speak truth to power and bring power to truth utilizing data, education, and community dialogue, translating narratives told by us, about us, and for us, into tools for leaders, advocates, and community members to spur action. We envision a future where social determinants of health are widely understood in our community to create a more equitable, more beautiful Vermont.

Core Responsibilities and Duties:
● Manage multiple projects at the direction of the Managing Director.
● Perform administrative oversight over projects including the development of scope(s) of work and implementation of project schedules and project budgets, resources coordination, facilitation of certain meetings, and timely communication.
● Ensure from time of receipt to delivery, that all aspects of order are completed in a timely manner by coordinating and following up with clients, internal team members and external vendors.
● Conduct desk research on racial health disparities to acquire foundational data and develop contextual narrative to projects.
● Manage onboarding of outside vendors as needed for relevant projects, ensuring vendors have all the necessary information and documents throughout the creative process.
● Participate in client and internal meetings as needed.
● Applying to funding sources and developing project reports.
Qualifications and Desired Skills:
● Bachelor's degree in an associated field.
● Desired 2-3 years of relevant experience; client-facing, planning and managing projects.
● Proficiency in Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft Office.
● Well developed prioritization and time management skills, as well as problem solving skills.
● Manage constant workflow and collection of organization and client documents within Google Docs, calendars, project management documents, or other relevant file sharing platforms.
● Ability to create various engaging presentations for proposals to new and existing clients across multiple platforms, with possible assistance from graphic teams as needed.
● Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and verbal, with an ability to confidently and effectively represent the organization to outside stakeholders
● Intermediate understanding of social determinants of health and health equity interventions.
● Basic understanding of budget management, including public grant management
● Proactive approach to work, taking ownership of tasks, moving forward as appropriate to meet deadlines and objectives.
● Maintain strong and positive working relationships, while maintaining adherence to objectives, process, budgets, and project timelines.
● Experience working in a start-up environment is a plus.
● Experience managing high impact and high profile projects is a plus.
